Mehraveh Sharifinia crowned best actress at Cyprus festival
TEHRAN – Mehraveh Sharifinia has been picked as best actress at the 13th Cyprus International Film Festival for her role in Iranian director Ghazaleh Soltani’s drama, “Wander about Me”.
The film was screened in First Feature Films, a category dedicated to the first-film directors.
Sharifinia portrays a woman from Tehran who chooses to follow her dreams when she is on the verge of turning 30.
Serge Riaboukine for his role in “A Thousand Pieces” from France and Marcel Iures for his role in “Octav” from Romania shared the award for best actor.
“A Thousand Pieces” by Véronique Mériadec was named best film in that section and received a Golden Aphrodite Award.
The festival ran from June 23 to July 1 at the Polytechnic Old Electric and Attikon Cinema in the coastal city of Paphos in the southwest of Cyprus.
